Basic Info
Name:Seymour
Bio
[An RP-journal for [info]twilight_city only]
Character Information:
Fandom: FFX
Name: Seymour Guado
Character Model: Jack Coleman
Age: 29
Current Residence: Little Nibelheim
Occupation: Counselor for the Fabula Nova Crystallis Church

Personality: Seymour is a man of opposites. He’s learned to hide his true feelings under a caring smile towards those he counsels. He made his heart hard long ago with the death of his mother and the indifference shown to him under his father’s parentage. He pretends to be the kind soul with a shoulder for you to lean against, but in the end he only takes pleasure in discovering the weaknesses that are at the heart of Twilight City.

Seymour realizes that his job places him in the public eye and in contact with the community almost constantly. While his attitude towards fellow parishioners of the church may be warm and kind, he rarely can be seen giving someone even the simple physical contact of a hug. His appearance is always neat and tidy in a way that makes him appear as sterile as a surgical room. His obsession of neatness is further demonstrated in how he keeps his house, everything kept as neat and as in place as it was before the death of his mother.

While Seymour is typically quiet and a man who keeps to himself, when things don’t go the way he plans he has a terrible temper. It is a side of him very few have seen and something that rarely takes hold of him, but when it does he is powerless to his rage and can think of nothing but lashing out against whatever person or object has offended him until his anger subsides.

Lastly, with all of his faults, it is easy to see a loneliness that dwells within him. His eyes show hesitation and a little bit of the little boy that still lives within him. He can have a sense of innocence when it comes to attempting to learn how to create a normal adult relationship. His only real passions are his book collection, the church, and preserving the memories of his late mother.

Biography: Seymour started life as the typical “happy child”. His mother constantly doted upon him and he would follow her where ever she went. She was his light and the one thing he could truly count on. His father, more focused on business than family life was often absent from the home and Seymour had trouble looking up to a man who’s face was constantly covered by a paper. It was this indifference that would drive a wedge between them that could never be fixed.

Around the age of 8 Seymour’s mother was diagnosed with a fatal illness. Even while her health crippled her, she did her best to make her last months with Seymour the best they could be. It was during this time that his mother frequented the Fabula Nova Crystallis Church where she would pray and teach Seymour the art of devotion. It was this time in his life that Seymour developed a love for his mother’s religion and the memories of their time there would later cement his choice to work there.

When Seymour’s mother finally passed away after two years of continuous struggle, he was the only one standing by her hospital bed. His father had once again been away on another business trip and when he returned Seymour would not so much as even look at him. Their existence together was strained from that point on they simply moved in different circles and avoided each other’s company when they could.

As a teenager Seymour proved that he was a leader by volunteering at the church and making top marks in his high school classes. With the promise of entering the best college possible, his father continuously urged him to take up business and find a “real” job to succeed in. After graduating high school, Seymour began to study theology against his father’s wishes and soon it was not uncommon to hear them bickering from the neighboring houses.

It was such a night that many neighbors claim to have seen Seymour’s poor, overworked father leaving in the middle of night, never to return. Many of the older residents shook their heads in sympathy for the young man who now lived in the old house alone now. Seymour simply smiled and said that his father’s spirit would always live with him. Little did anyone suspect he meant that literally, since he had moved his father’s permanent residence 6 feet below, under the basement.

For the past nine years of his life he’s kept to his fervent study of religion and soon gained many connections within the church due in part to his hard work and dedication. After graduating college he quickly slipped into the role of counselor, not only for the money but to be close to the memory of his mother as well.
